FOUR CHIPPENDALE STYLE CHAIRS. Mahogany, having the "Philadelphia splat" where you can see the soaring Gothic design which influenced Thomas Chippendale's design. The emphasis is on the vertical which the American colonist prefered. Cabriole legs with highly delineated ball and claw feet. Slip seats are handsomely covered in black naughyde (better than fabric as far as cleanliness.) Size: 37.5" H, 18" W, 20" D. Condition: original rich finish, one chair back (backrest and rear legs) is slightly loose, one small chip (1/2" by 1/2") out of back of splat on the same chair. |
