He was known to have only signed his paintings with RC. This moody image (with deep & descriptive color) shows trees by a lake with a person walking along a road. King (American, 1854-1945) was one of Pittsburgh's best known still life and landscape artists and portraits by him are comparatively rare. This comes from a private estate. 3329 THREE LANGANKE LANDSCAPE WATERCOLORS. 20th c. Watercolor on paper. All are signed "Langanke." Two are signed "Barbara Langanke." One shows a tropical scene with palm trees, one shows a mountain field with a dead tree, and the last shows a forest lake in autumn. Size: 8 1/4" h., 11" w., & 3 5/8" h., 7" w., & 3 1/4" h., 6 1/8" w. All are framed slightly larger than the view dimensions. Condition: no major defects to any of them; frames are as is. 120 - 200
3347 DYALMA STULTIS PAINTING. Dated 27. Oil on board. Signed on the recto lower left and in pencil on the verso. A pencil inscription reads "Firenze,Campagne Toscana." Chickens are seen among trees. Stultis (Italian, 1902-1977) is an Italian painter of figurative and landscape scenery. Various landscape notations in black paint can be seen on the unprimed verso of the board. 3348 G.W. STORM FEMALE PORTRAIT. 19th c. Signed in lavender paint lower right. Shows a pretty lady in a dark blue dress with a brooch clasped at her neck. Storm (Pennsylvania, 1830-1913) was known for his regional portraits; his work appears in the State Museumm of Pennsylvania collection. Size: 30" h., 25" w. 3375 MOSES SOYER SUNFLOWERS OIL. 20th c. Oil on canvas. Signed M. Soyer lower right. Moses Soyer (Amer.,born Russia, 1899-1974) is one of three artistic brothers who depicted urban life in a social realist way. 3376 RUTH COBB AUTUMN LIGHT. 20th c. Watercolor on paper. Signed in pencil. Also a tag on the back from Midtown Galleries, East 57th St., New York gives the title. This shows an arrangement of jars and the evanescent colors that filter through them. Cobb (Amer., 1914-) is a listed artist and has been active in various national watercolor groups and has work in the Art Museum, University of Missouri-Columbia. 3377 LINDA SOKOLOWSKI BATHERS NO.6 Dated 1975. Described as oil on paper, some charcoal / pastel is also evident. A tag on the back reads "From Kraushaar Galleries, Madison Avenue, New York." Shows a very organic and free flowing study of nude figures among washes of highly diluted gray and ochre oil paints. Size: 18" h., 24 1/2" w., framed 26 1/4" h., 32 1/2" w.
