PAIR BASKIN ARTISTS PRINTS. Late 1960's. Heliogravure or litho from a metal plate. These two prints areportraits of the artists Watteau and Begas. Signed in pencil lower right, numbered 41/70 (Watteau) and 36/100 (Begas). Baskin (American, 1922-2000) was an eminent printmaker, painter and sculptor whose subject matter included mythological creatures, figures and homages to past artists. His style is distorted and draws attention to physiognomy above all else. Baskin's work is in the floowing collections: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMa, The Vatican.
