RENE PAUL CHAMBELLAN PORTRAIT PLAQUE. 1928. Bronze. Signed "Chambellan 1928" and marked on the back in pen "#1019 Cast 1 - off BRZ to replace failure." This shows Frederic Charles Hiron, architect, his portrait commissioned by his students ("A Frederic Charles Hiron architecte ses eleves.") Chambellan (Amer., 1893-1955) is a listed sculptor whose public sculpture includes work for the Buffalo City Hall, Shrine of the Little Flower (Michigan), Queens County Hospital (NYC), Naval Hospital (South Carolina) and many more. However, works by him available on the market are extremely rare. Hirons (1883-1942)was the architect for Child's Restaurant (Coney Island, New York) and the George Rogers Clark Memorial in Indiana.
