WENCESLAUS HOLLAR ETCHING. Dated in the plate 1645. Wenceslaus Hollar (Czech, 1607-1677) the well known Baroque etcher. It is half of a Hollar etching that once included a bust length portrait of a Renaissance lady. That half contained Hollar's in-plate signature. Marked on the bottom left corner "3b." This shows a bald man after Leonardo da Vinci's grotesque heads. Marked in-plate in the upper left "do da Vinci, 1645." Touched with gray ink to strengthen weakly impressed lines in the breast, cheek wrinkles and the shoulder. Size: 3 3/8" h., 2 1/2" w., framed 14 1/2" h., 12 1/4" w.
