Male and female figures of Italian peasants in national costumes, ceramic hands and faces with hand painted detail, on round wooden bases. Large creche or precepio groups can be seen each year during the Christmas season at the Carneige Museum of Art, Pittsburgh and the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. No mark. Size: male figure 13 1/2"H, female figure 13"H. 4 1/4"diam. wooden bases. Condition: damage to fingers, legs, other age appropriate wear. |
