This is a combination sculpture: the female horse rider has ivory arms, feet, and head/torso, but her skirt, the horse and the support underneath the horse are white marble (with several small black inclusions). The base is cream and black variegated stone. Size: without variegated stone base 12 1/2" h., 14" long, 5" w., with variegated stone base 19 1/4" h., 7" w. Condition: the ivory has many age appropriate cracks; the right side of her face broke off from a crack and has been adhered into place; the fingers holding the mane are partly ivory and partly some cast material; the outstretched arm is a separate piece of ivory and there is some chipped wear to the joint; variegated stone base is as is. |

The verso of each medal pictures a famous work by which each man was known. For example, Lawrence is represented by an image of Wellington (whose portrait was painted by Lawrence), Inigo Jones's Banqueting House is shown on his medal and so forth. BRONZE FIGURATIVE FISH TANK. 1970's. Bronze with acrylic windows. Unmarked. Reputedly English in manufacture. Massive multi-figure tank with a fountain top. It rests upon a stand decorated with acanthus leaf feet; a sloped base with cascading acanthus leaves and two terminal sculptures (mirror images of each other) of boys riding Zephyr's (?) head. The top of the bronze stand contains snarling bear heads that frame faux barbarian head cartouches. The actual tank is decorated with wreath foliage around each window; neoclassical heads between garland; and the tank is finished at the top with a fountain-- a sculpture of a boy prying apart a fish's mouth. Size: 69" h., 25" w., 25" deep. Condition: used with verdigris oxidation inside the tank; some plaster inclusions in deeply recessed areas, from the casting process; and old tank sealant; this item weighs in excess of 300 lbs. and must be shipped by a 3rd party due to size and weight; Dargate will not ship this item. |
