Creamy lace trim around shoulders and neck that peeks through all layers. 2nd layer, cream netting attached to the 1st layer, strong tatted seams with delicate thread covered wire squiggle stays to keep the mock neck collar up, finished with tiny pintucks. 3rd layer, lavender silk chemis overlay with pleated shoulder straps which extend down the back and finish as decorum. 4thlayer, sheer scalloped eyelet cambric fabric allows lavender silk to peek through eyelet holes; sewn onto the second, net lace layer. 5th layer, draped navy silk chiffon batwing overlay, shows a v-shaped relief of the other layers in this beautiful silk-chiffon concoction. One under arm seam, with hand rolled lingerie edge seams. This blue halo has polychromed silk ribbon embroidery, with embroidered silk thread create asian inspired flower branch, floral sprays across the breast and shoulder, and encircle each 3/4 length sleeve arm above the ruffles of cambric eyelet,lavender silk, and net lace. 6th layer, black silk satin gathered in a cummerbund swag at the waist, closes with a hook & eye closure beneath a coiled silk covered cord flourish. VICTORIAN BLACK LACE PARASOL Authentic Victorian black lace with black velvet ribbon trim parasol. It has a black, ebonized wood handle with horizontal incised marks and bamboo stylization ending with a small 2 1/2"hooked handle. Brass metal parasol working parts. The interior of the parasol has shirred black silk chiffon lining, smocked in concentric circles to the center shaft. Silk chiffon material is intact, but brittle due to age.The exterior of the parasol has black lace over cream silk chiffon layer. The cream silk layer is encased between the lace and the black shirred chiffon lining, and the cream silk layer is unfortunately very fragile, and deteriorating. The black lace and chiffon lining are for the most part, intact, but the lace is just starting to rip from the top of the parasol and has a small hole at the bottom edge of the parasol. The parasol is neatly trimmed with a 2" wide black velvet ribbon on the bottom and has a black velvet bow atop the parasol. The parasol has a lovely domed shaped when opened. Size: 24 1/2"diam. 41"L cane. Condition: minor scratches on the parasol shaft and the afore mentioned demise of the fabric. Age appropriate wear. |
