STEINWAY ART CASE PIANO. 72" long. #96894, 1901. Hand painted on gilt throughout. The top with four putti with musical instruments, against what appears to be deliberate and natural craquelure. Underneath, the top is gilt with no painting on the main part, but with handpainted putti with musical instruments on the rectangular fold-back, signed by the artist. January, 2001. $23,000.00.

c. 1920. Labeled on the interior "Nicolas Bertholini Luthier de S.M.L'Empereur fecit 1810." This was a label used by one of the Mirecourt workshops from 1910-1930. Includes bow and a carrying case. Approx. 14"l.-length of back. Condition: scuffs where bridge (missing) rests. No cracks. Some nicks to edges. Estimate: $200.-$400. Sept. 16, 2001. Price $225.00.
