5637 CHINESE EXPORT ARMORIAL WARE. N/R. A teapot and a tankard. c. 1790. (Sometimes referred to as "Lowestoft Chinese)." Cream ground with blue hand painted spearhead border. Coat of arms of the Canon Family with motto "Suaviter in modo, fortiter in Re". ( "Mildly in manner, Boldly in action" plus flowers adorn body. Applied double twisted handles. Gilded highlights and apple finial on teapot. Teapot approx. 5" (12.7cm)h., 5" (12.7cm) dia. Tankard approx. 5 3/4" (14.6cm) h., 4 1/2" (11.4cm) dia. Condition: both pieces are damaged. (1868-1912) Earthenware footed vases mounted as table lamps with hand painted Samurai
figures on one side, robed figures near a river verso. Remaining two sides with molded
ribbons in relief hanging from molded circle. Elaborately decorated with enameled beadwork
and gilt. Tapered square form, each on four scrolled legs standing on metal base. Each
with carved cinnabar finial. Approx. 14" (35.6cm) h.- vases only. Condition: gilt
rubbed and minor wear. Chips on both at upper edge of neck. Estimate: $400-600. Sept 16,
