5056 BASEBALL: ROBERTO CLEMENTE PLAQUE. N/R. "Clemente Hits #3000." Limited Edition #338/1000. Original black & white photo of Mr. Clemente at the plate as he hits his #3000 hit on September 30, 1972, a double to left center. Sadly, it was also his l ast hit preceding his untimely death on December 31, 1972, while delivering relief supplies to Nicaraguan earthquake victims. At the top of the photograph are six 1 1/4" x 2" (3.2cm x 5.1cm) frames depicting the sequence following the hit, including the "3000" flashed on the scoreboard. The photograph was taken by and is signed in ink lower right by Mr. Les Banos, the official Pirate photographer at the time. The marbleized wood plaque is 16" x 24" (40.6cm x 61.0cm), the photo is 11" x 14" (27 .9cm x 35.6cm), the explanatory tribute to the right of the photo is 11" x 3 1/2" (27.90cm x 8.9cm). Condition: Mr. Banos' signature faded, else excellent. Accompanied by an original photograph of Mr. Clemente and Mr. Banos, signed by Mr. Banos. E stimate: $800.-1200. Sept. 16, 2001. Price $200.00
5065 FORBES FIELD BRANCH RICKEY DESK & CHAIR.
5065 FORBES FIELD EXECUTIVE DESK & CHAIR. N/R. Used by Branch Rickey in the 1950-1955 period, also used by Joe L. Brown. The desk and chair were given to Les Banos (official Pirate's photographer and present owner) upon the closing of Forbes Field in 1970. The desk is a mahogany pedestal desk with a center drawer flanked by drawers on either side. The chair is an open mahogany swivel armchair with a tan leather seat and back. Both c. 1920. Accompanied by a letter from Les Banos certifying the us e of the desk and chair by Rickey and Brown. The desk is 66" (168cm) w., 37" (94.0cm) d. Desk approx. 210 lbs. and Chair approx. 25 lbs. Condition: in original condition, scratches, gouges, worn, veneer chips. Estimate: $200-400. Sept. 16, 2001. Price $200.00

Twenty-eight signatures, including Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazeroski, Elroy Face, Smokey Burgess, Danny Murtaugh, etc. Provenance: ball raffled just before Christmas1 960 to benefit a troubled family. Won by consignor's father, who gave it to his son, the present owner. Note: ball is signed by Bobby Shantz who was traded to the Pirates after the 1960 season.
